Empires of Gods & Men

Braelen's Journal; Entry 3

After ducking in to an inn called Wobble Gobble we managed to shake off our stalkers. We met a priestess named Arie.

Found out soldiers were staying at the Two Crowns inn. They notice Eufie.

Summoned to court to meet with the nomarch to answer for our criminal activities.

High priestess Valeriea promises to help us if we let Gilly turn into Orketh when the time comes.

Accept, she intercedes the summon and causes it to be canceled.

Eufie and myself exchange secrets.

Go to ball, see Ki there, he noticed us but Eufie and myself escape, Ki doesnt chase after us.

Euphigenia cleverly made the party camouflage out of mud, grass and sticks to help us blend in better with our surroundings.

Traveling by night we have managed to avoid many soldiers, yet we still manage to run into troubles.

I wish to say the worst that happened was when we happened upon a field of goats and Rain was causing them to become restless… but then came the wolves.
A whole pack of wolves came after us in the night, we had no choice but to start a fire and hope no soldiers were close by to see it. We fended off the wolves, and the pack retreated… for now.
We needed to rest after the attack, so we decided to continue our journey in the morning while we took turns watching out for the wolves.

The following afternoon we saw soldiers of different banners combing the fields on horseback, we hid ourselves as best as we could in a thicket… but Yttria fell a short distance away and drew their attention. As the captain drew near Akka and Euphigenia began a preemptive strike… and unfortunately failed throwing everyone into a chaotic battle.
Yttria stealthily attacking with her crossbow, Akka bellowing and hammer bashing, Euphigenia twirling a deadly dance with her glave and myself weaving magic did our best to fight them, despite us four outnumbered by their five.

I was able to cause distortion in the fight gaining the party an advantage to take out our opponents, doing so earned me a javelin though the chest from an enemy. I blacked out.

When I awoke, Euphigenia was finishing healing the hole in my chest, while Akka and Yttria were interrogating a captured solider.
I struggled to my feet with Euphigenia’s help and saw four soldiers lying dead. Euphigenia grumbled that one solider had escaped despite their best attempts to stop him, and how lucky I was to still be alive…

The solider they did capture spoke Varresh, in what little I could understand he said to me “The Petalthrens were traitors” and he was “ordered to bring me and my father’s house back.” He couldn’t say to where or to whom, he was only that “he was just following orders”.

Then Euphigenia did him in.

We gathered the horses of the slain soldiers, tossing off their embroidered tack we took two for ourselves and set the others free. We continued on to Du Veres.

We crossed through creeks to help cover our path along the way, and arrived a day and a half later at twilight.
Akka and Yttria went in first, followed a little later by Euphigenia and myself. I noticed that there were soldiers that seemed to be looking out for people of interest.
We met up with the other two, but motioned them to ignore us and keep going in a set direction.

That is when I noticed we were being tailed by men on horseback.

Braelen's Journal; Entry 1

Between the Arlen soldier and the outsider Euphigenia arriving in Gottelsgep at the same time, the unease of my mother and rash actions of my father, I should not be surprised how much my life has changed in just a few days… Especially when I was sent away with Yttria, Akka and Euphigenia on a quest from Elder Jorehk.

Many things have happened to the group after we left Gottelsgep to deliver a message to the Nomarch of Ensferk on behalf of Elder Jorehk, questioning the presence of the Arlen soldiers in our lands.

Trying our best to remain inconspicuous, we arrived in Ensferk and poked around for some information about the whereabouts of the Nomarch’s estate. We were escorted by soldiers to the estate. On the way, Yttria lost herself in a separate dimension when she touched a mirror embedded in a tree, leaving the rest of us to tote around her unconscious body in the physical realm.

We finally reached the estate and were given a room to bunk in. However, soldiers came for Euphigenia and I in the middle of the night, declaring us under arrest. We did not comply to their demands, and I was forced to reveal my magic as Akka, Euphigenia, and myself fought our way out, barely surviving. I was able to distract the guards and send them off on a wild goose chase, giving us time to take cover and hide in the wooded area outside the estate.

That night, Dust found a temple and brought me a piece of what appears to been part of the mirror Yttria touched. Placing it against her skin, she regained consciousness and told us of her out-of-body experience meeting two of Kesh’s children, Orketh and Morthys.

This spurred Akka to tell us that Yttria in fact, has Orketh dwelling inside her, and that we must make sure he does not get out, or else Yttria will die.

The next day, we went to a farm to buy provisions for our travel to Du Veres. We found a local soldier there, who seemed to be allied with his people rather than working in hand with the Arlen soldiers. He warned us about Arlish soldiers searching across the nome for our group, and that they have captured my father, who apparently was an idiot and got himself caught trying to find me. He is being held in the Nomarch’s estate, but it’s too risky for the group to try and rescue him at this time.

We are traveling at night, to avoid running into anymore soldiers. Hopefully we will make it to Du Veres in one piece.
